Dr. Louis Jones
Louis Jones is originally from Jackson, MS. He received his undergraduate degree in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Connecticut. He received his medical degree and completed his Orthopedic Surgery residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He then completed a fellowship in adult reconstructive surgery at Mississippi Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Center. During this year, his surgical training was focused on primary and revision hip and knee replacements, which included training with computer navigation, direct anterior hip approaches, and partial knee replacements. He recently completed a fellowship in orthopedic oncology and sarcoma surgery at the University of California, Davis. Here his clinical focus was on the management of patients with primary sarcomas of bone and soft tissue, as well as patients with metastatic cancer to bone and soft tissue. Additionally, he was involved in the management of benign lesions of bones and soft tissue, more commonly known as “lumps and bumps”. He sees patients across all age groups. He has a special interest in adolescent and young adult patients afflicted with sarcoma. Being involved in the care of patients with complicated medical, oncologic, and surgical issues is a true privilege.
He is actively involved in research related to the management of patients with soft tissue sarcomas. He has published research articles and book chapters focused on residency training performance and fracture management. He has coauthored a review article on bone sarcomas that is currently used as a reference article for other orthopedic surgeons completing their recertification.
