A helping hand for hand, arm and elbow care
Hand and upper extremity conditions can be temporary and easily treated, or they can be chronic, long-term conditions that require ongoing care.
Your condition may require a unique care and treatment plan. Our team of experienced orthopedists and staff members will work with you, starting with diagnosing your condition, to develop a personalized treatment plan for you. That plan may include medication, physical therapies, behavioral or surgical options to relieve pain and restore functionality of your hand or arm.
Our diagnostic tools
To diagnose a hand or upper extremity condition, your doctor will:
- Review your symptoms
- Conduct a physical examination of the area
- Review your medical history
- Order additional labs and scans as needed, such as an X-ray or computerized tomography (CT) scan
Our treatments
Depending on your condition, the function of the affected area and or your comfort level, your provider may recommend using ice applied to the area, rest or pain medications. In more serious cases, you may require physical therapy or surgical procedures.
While complications are rare, hand and upper extremity surgeries may result in numbness and weakness in the forearm or hand, formation of new bone, limited movement, and re-tearing of tendons.
